Trailer

Starring: Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Glenne Headly, Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan

Director James Ponsoldt is an up and coming director to watch. His films The Spectacular Now and The End of the Tour earned him critical acclaim despite flying under the radar. This is really his first big break in terms of mainstream Hollywood films. It's based on the novel of the same name by writer David Eggers. Eggers has become a fairly well known name in both the literary world and the world of cinema. He wrote the screenplay for the 2009 Spike Jonze film Where the Wild Things Are - as well writing the novelization of the film called, The Wild Things. Eggers's 2013 novel A Hologram for the King was made into a movie by Tom Tykwer in one of last year's more underrated releases. He's also worked with John Krasinski (of The Office fame) on Away We Go and Promised Land.

These two filmmakers combining their efforts with this great cast certainly makes for an intriguing project. And that's before considering what an interesting story is being told here. It's clearly meant to play on our current fear of powerful tech companies and the amount of knowledge they have about us and the amount of unknown surveillance they're capable of.

Below Her Mouth

Directed by: April Mullen
Runtime: 1hr, 34mins
Drama
Not Rated
Trailer

Starring: Erika Linder, Natalie Krill, Sebastian Pigott

This drama about two women who enter into a secret love affair has received some harsh early reviews. It's currently sitting at 14% on Rotten Tomatoes. One reviewer went as far as to call it, "breathtakingly bad." Other criticisms point to a lack of compelling characters to be invested in and little of interest to tie together the film's graphic sex scenes.

__________

Black Rose

Directed by: Alexander Nevsky
Runtime: 1hr, 40mins
Action, Crime, Drama
Not Rated
Trailer

Starring: Alexander Nevsky, Kristanna Loken, Adrian Paul

Evidently Alexander Nevsky is a Russian Arnold Schwarzenegger - a body builder turned actor, director and producer. Considering this, perhaps it's not so surprising his latest film, an over-the-top action-thriller, looks like it came straight out of the 80's or early 90's - Schwarzenegger's heyday. It's about a well known Russian police officer the LAPD is forced to turned to when they can't catch up with sadistic sociopathic killer responsible for a series of gruesome murders.

__________

That's coming next year with his starring role in the Freddie Mercury bio-film Bohemian Rhapsody.  Buster's Mal Heart is a return to Malek's roots in indie film. It follows a mountain man known as "Buster" who gets by, by breaking into vacant vacation homes and spends his time calling into radio shows to give conspiracy theory rants about an impending event known as "The Inversion." That is when he isn't being haunted by visions of a past life.
